Whether you’re a doula or other birth professional looking to expand their skill set, a Phase One midwifery student, or someone looking to start their journey as a member of the birth community in this workshop is for you! This workshop covers the basic information and skills needed to offer birth assistant services in a community birth setting. Topics covered:
- Role & scope
- Setting up the birth space
- Tools & equipment
- Universal precautions and basic safety
- How to take vital signs
- How to find and monitor fetal heart tones
- Sterile vs clean
- How to set up a sterile field
- HIPAA & Client Confidentiality
- Basic charting
- Emergencies
- Clean up & tear down
The workshop will run 10am to 4pm both days. Lunches will be provided each day for all attendees. Please bring snacks, water, a notepad, and pen.
Registration Fee: $100
A reduced fee is offered for midwifery students who are in a current apprenticeship and/or who are currently enrolled in a midwifery training or degree program, and is free for BIPOC and/or LGBTQUIA+ birth professionals and midwifery students.
There are a limited number of spaces available!
